Silverfish are small creepy insects that don’t bite, but they can trigger allergic reaction in some people. They can contaminate food, damage paper goods and stain clothing and obviously you don’t like them to be at your happy home.
Silverfish mostly resides in moist and humid places, such as bathrooms, basements and attics or any humid place at home. They are nocturnal and favour dark and damp places.
Silverfish cause damage to different household items, such as books, photographs, wallpaper or documents stored for a long time in humid areas of home. They feed on starches found in wallpaper and over time damage them.
Silverfish can damage clothes stored over a long time and they like to nibble on fabrics like silk, cotton and linen. They leaves small holes in material and also causes yellow staining.
Silverfish can contaminate food products, like sugar, flour and rolled oats. So, it’s better to keep packaged food in sealed containers, as they can chew through packaging and makes food items inedible.
In small number they are not a major threat but they can bring damage to your beloved belonging overtime, when they grow to an infestation.
